A 30ft container earns its place when your storage plan has outgrown a 20ft box but your site cannot spare the length of a 40ft. The useful question is what you need that extra room to do: hold more stock, accommodate shelving, or leave a workable route to equipment at the back.
The five choices above cover different answers. Prices refer to the listed container or starting specification, with delivery and optional work to be confirmed. Each product is linked below so you can check the live details before ordering.
For straightforward storage
1. Universal Containers Used 30ft Cut Down Container
Universalâs Used 30ft Cut Down Container is a practical starting point for general storage. Its listed £2,150 ex. VAT price includes a lockbox, with a 27mm marine plywood floor, air vents and lashing points described on the product page. Previous dents and repairs may be visible, so the appeal is usable storage rather than an untouched exterior.
This specific cut-down model is marked empty lift only and non-stackable. If your plan involves lifting a loaded container or placing another unit above it, that restriction changes the choice. The seller describes it as wind and watertight unless otherwise specified; have the condition of the offered unit recorded in your order.
For tools, spare parts or stock you will retrieve regularly, sketch the layout before adding racking. Deep storage can look generous on paper and become awkward when the item you need sits behind everything else.

The wider Universal 30ft container range includes high-cube and double-door tunnel variants. Those are different configurations to compare if height or access is the real problem; neither feature belongs to the standard used model above.
2. Budget Shipping Containers 30ft Refurbished, reference 2293
Budgetâs 30ft Refurbished container, reference 2293, is an option for a customer-facing yard: it is made to order from a larger used unit and includes an external repaint. Its headline price is from £2,670 + VAT, ex Liverpool depot; regional pricing varies.
The door choice is unusually important here. Budget says the unit may have original cargo doors or newly fabricated flat-panel doors. The latter use a rain guard and covered frame rather than the rubber seal of conventional cargo doors. A lockbox is included, and the page describes a 12-month wind-and-watertight guarantee. Specify the door arrangement in your order.
Refurbishment also has limits: the underlying unit can retain dents, repairs and surface imperfections. Very light paint colours may cost more, and an internal repaint is not normally included. This is a sensible comparison for buyers who want a specified outside finish while accepting the history of a used container.

3. Cleveland Containers Used 30ft
Clevelandâs Used 30ft container combines a used shell with a choice of extras. The current condition selector shows used, wind-and-watertight units, typically more than ten years old. Pricing is by location rather than a single national figure.
Published features include a plywood floor, vents and lashing points. A lockbox is an optional extra on the used model. Include that in any price comparison. The page offers racking, personnel doors, electrics, lining and other alterations through its XTRAS service.
Cleveland publishes an indicative internal length of 8.94m, but also notes that cut-down dimensions can vary. Have the final internal measurements confirmed after any lining or partition work. For a store you enter several times a day, a personnel door might be more useful than spending the same budget on cosmetic changes.
The page advertises a three-month warranty from delivery, excluding bespoke builds, with wear and cosmetic condition excluded. Ask which terms cover your particular modified order; a standard used-shell warranty should not be assumed to cover every conversion.
4. S Jones Containers 30ft Container
For separate storage zones, consider the S Jones 30ft Container. The company describes cutting down a 40ft container, re-welding the doors and corner posts, and seam-welding the joins. Both new and used starting units are offered.
Its published modification choices include partitions, personnel doors, racking, lining and insulation, plus single- or three-phase electrics. These are separately specified project options. The page displays âfrom £4,550â without stating the VAT basis alongside it, so request a VAT-inclusive delivered quotation before comparing totals.
A parts store might put frequently collected stock near a separate entrance, with less-used equipment beyond a partition. Send a rough plan and item dimensions with the enquiry so door and partition positions follow the job.
S Jones lists approximate internal dimensions of 8.93m by 2.33m by 2.35m. Its delivery coverage is mainland Great Britain, excluding Ireland and Northern Ireland. Check the finished clearances and destination eligibility as part of the same quotation.

5. Portable Space 30ft x 8ft One Trip Cut Down, QF614
Portable Spaceâs 30ft x 8ft One Trip Cut Down container, Quickfind 614, provides a more tightly described specification. It is cut from a new one-trip container, with fabricated rear panels and corner posts, a fitted lockbox and preparation and respraying inside and out. The listed floor is 28mm marine plywood.
The page shows £8,217 ex. VAT (£9,860.40 inc. VAT), with delivery calculated by entering a postcode after adding the product to the basket. Compare the specification with written alternatives before committing to this higher published price.
For bulky equipment, its published 2.34m-wide by 2.28m-high door opening is more useful than the nominal container height. Something that fits the internal space still has to pass through the door. The stated internal length is 9m; external length is 9.12m.
Portable Space explicitly says this cut-down container cannot be used for shipping. Treat it as a storage purchase.
Make the extra length work before you order
Measure the storage plan and the access route separately. Start with your largest item, including its handles, packaging or pallet. Then allow room to load it and retrieve it. If you intend to put shelving on both sides, draw the shelves and the remaining aisle to scale. A nominal 30ft length cannot tell you whether the resulting layout will be comfortable to use.
Keep the door end usable. Decide where goods will be set down, how far the doors need to open and whether vehicles or neighbouring storage could obstruct them. A longer interior brings little benefit if daily access means emptying the front half. Where necessary, price an alternative door arrangement at the beginning of the project.
Compare the finished order. Ask each seller to quote the containerâs condition, doors, locking equipment, paint, internal work, VAT, transport and offloading as separate items. Send the delivery postcode and access photographs with the same request. A lower container price can become a different proposition once the chosen extras and delivery are added.
Thirty-foot cut-downs also should not be priced as a mathematical midpoint between 20ft and 40ft products. Budget explains that it creates these units by cutting down 40ft containers, and that a 40ft can be cheaper if you have the space. A 30ft purchase is therefore a way to solve a site constraint, rather than an automatic saving over a larger box.
These choices were checked against official product pages on 3 November 2026 and grouped by buying need. No physical testing or scored ranking is implied. They are storage-oriented cut-down products; confirm any transport, lifting or stacking requirements for the exact unit before purchase.
