10 ways you can organise your wardrobe and declutter your bedroom

Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed by the clutter in your closet? Do you struggle to keep your clothes organised and find what you’re looking for? It’s time to take control of your wardrobe and transform it into a clean and efficient space. Here are 10 ways that you can organise your wardrobe:

1. Clear out the clothes you no longer need

Because that’s the only way to actually go through things. The number of times I’ve had someone tell me they ‘poked through’ their closet or drawer and ‘it’s done,’ followed by me relieving said drawer or closet of 50% of its contents, is too many to count.

If you’re doing it yourself and this is overwhelming, go drawer by drawer or item of clothing by item of clothing. Regardless of how you do it, it all – at some point – needs to come out. Otherwise, you’ll be half-assing it ?‍♀️

Sort through your clothes and get rid of anything you haven’t worn in a while. Be honest with yourself and only keep the items that you actually wear and love. Donate or sell the rest. This will help you declutter your closet and make it easier to see what you have.

2. Use good hangers to keep your clothes in order

Invest in some good quality hangers. Avoid using cheap wire hangers that can stretch out your clothes and make them look sloppy. Consider investing in some thin, sturdy hangers that will keep your clothes looking crisp and tidy. Hangers made of wood or velvet are especially good at preventing creases and slips and also look more luxurious for a glam wardrobe setup.

Hang your clothes by category. Group similar items together (e.g. all your dresses in one section, all your tops in another) to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. This will also help you see at a glance what you have and what you might be missing.

5. Keep your shoes tidy using storage solutions

Use bins or baskets to store your shoes. If you don’t have enough room in your wardrobe, consider using a shoe rack or storage bench to keep your shoes organized and out of the way. This will help prevent your closet from getting cluttered and will make it easier to find the pair of shoes you’re looking for.

6. Shelf organisers and dividers

Use shelf organizers or dividers to keep your folded clothes neat and tidy. These will help keep your clothes from getting creased and make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Moreover, shelf organizers are especially useful for sweaters and other items that tend to stretch out or lose their shape when piled on top of one another.

7. Use the space behind your wardrobe door

Utilise the space behind your wardrobe door. Install some hooks or a hanging organiser to store your bags, belts, and other accessories. These types of clothing organisers are readily available from home stores and are an affordable way to maximise your space by freeing up what’s inside your wardrobe..

8. Under the bed storage

Use under-bed storage containers to store out-of-season clothes. This will free up space in your closet and keep your clothes protected from dust. Furthermore, make sure to label the containers so you know what’s inside, and consider using vacuum-sealed bags to save even more space.

9. Drawer organisers or dividers

Use drawer organisers or dividers to keep your socks, underwear, and other small items from getting jumbled up. These will help you find what you’re looking for quickly and keep your drawers looking neat and organized.
